“As a principal of an inner-city school who was formerly a suburban school principal, I see the huge gap that the Foundation for Children’s Books fills for our students. In the suburbs, PTO’s raise funds to support visits from authors; there is virtually no such funding in city schools. Our students’ sense of themselves as learners and especially as writers has been buoyed by the visitors sponsored by the Foundation.”
